Our leader, Bill Freeman, is now over 90 years old and would like to retire soon for a well earned rest after creating, managing and conducting the orchestra for 20 years. So we are looking for a new leader/conductor to begin working alongside Bill and ultimately to take over.
Within the orchestra there is a committee of supporting helpers. These include librarians, treasurer, admin support and coffee organisers along with additional help for concert ticketing and sales.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday afternoons in Alsager during term time (breaking at the end of May each year and reconvening in September).
The genre is strictly stage, screen and TV, loved by the many players, some of whom play in classical orchestras elsewhere, but who enjoy the different approach.
We are looking for a retired musician, possibly a school Head of music, who can step into the role gradually, alongside Bill to start and ultimately take over conducting, organising and continuing to develop the orchestra.
The group is now around 50 strong and the emphasis is very much on fun.
It is important that a gradual and seamless takeover happens in order to keep the continuity and standard of play.
We are looking for a person that is the right fit for our outlook and inclusive culture. The atmosphere is always fun, we put people first whilst striving for greater musical achievement.
If you are interested in this rewarding role please contact Bill Freeman either by email pam.bill@talktalk.net or using the contact button on this website to arrange an informal chat.
